A heating pad should help give visitors to the country's cafes and restaurants an opportunity to sit outside a little longer.
And the idea is simple enough. As each individual guest gets to warm the seagull, so to speak, there is no need to turn on the more violent heat lamps, and there is no need to huddle under the heat rays.
At the moment, a cord-based version of StaySeat is being tested at Meyers Deli in Frederiksberg, and a battery version will come during the summer.
"We are challenging the way in which outside guests in restaurants and cafes keep warm. And we are making outdoor dining a better business for the industry, says Jon Sødergreen from the startup company StaySeat, which has developed the heating pad with support from the Kickstart Danish Tourism 2020 project.
